Amazon Prime and Walmart+

Difference Between Amazon Prime and Walmart+

Amazon Prime and Walmart+

Amazon Prime costs more than Walmart+ ($139 vs. $98 annually), but it offers more services. Walmart+ doesn’t provide Prime Instant Videos or Amazon Music, but Amazon Prime subscribers do. Prime subscribers get free monthly novels.

Amazon Prime offers free delivery and entertainment if you can afford its premium pricing. If you don’t care about content or have enough streaming options, you may not need Amazon Prime. Walmart+ may be a cheaper alternative.

Both memberships provide other perks, such as discounts on pharmaceuticals and the ability to try on clothes at home before buying (an Amazon bonus).

In addition, Amazon Student provides a free six-month trial, then $59 a year or $6.49 per month for four years or until graduation, whichever comes first. Amazon Student rewards are similar to Prime and include savings on Grubhub+ Student, Calm, StudentUniverse, and Course Hero.

EBT or Medicaid cardholders can join Amazon Prime for $6.99 per month for up to four years. Amazon lets you share Prime advantages with one other adult and up to four youngsters.

Walmart+ doesn’t provide student or family discounts.

Transport

Amazon Prime first offered free two-day shipping. However, Amazon Prime costs $139 a year (up from $79), but Amazon has added delivery-related bonuses throughout the years.

Amazon promises one-day shipping on 10 million goods. When purchasing, filter by “Get it tomorrow” for delivery by 9 p.m. Orders over $35 qualify for free same-day delivery in some areas (Opens in a new window). Prime members may pick a two-hour delivery window for Amazon Fresh (or Whole Foods) items. Weekly orders? Amazon Prime customers may choose a “delivery day” for all their goods.

Walmart offers free two-day delivery on $35+ orders. Walmart+’s next-day, two-day, and basic delivery have no $35 minimum. Look for Sold and delivered by Walmart.com on product pages to avoid third-party sellers. (Click All Filters > Retailer and check Walmart.)
If you live near a Walmart, you can get groceries in one hour. Free delivery starts at $35 ($5.99 if less).
If groceries or same-day delivery is a decisive issue between Walmart and Amazon, check their websites. (Select Reserve pickup or delivery on Walmart.com or Deliver to on Amazon.com) Amazon Fresh delivers groceries in NYC, but not Walmart. Walmart+ delivers groceries to Beaumont, Texas, but not Amazon Fresh.

Discounts

Prime Day is Amazon’s annual two-day sale. It was created to boost Amazon Prime subscriptions, but the bargains have become better with time. To save, you must be a Prime member, but a free trial works. According to rumours, Amazon will have a second Prime Day in October.
Amazon owns Whole Foods, where Prime members save 10% on in-store bargains and get two-hour delivery or one-hour pickup in select locations.

In 2022, Walmart conducted a Walmart+ Weekend and summer discount to fight Prime Day. Walmart+ gives early access to Black Friday specials and gaming console restocks.

Walmart+ members who sign on at the right moment can get discounted must-have items like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. You must pay, not be on a free trial. On the Walmart+ sign-up page, scroll down to Early Access and select Start Paid Membership. Enter your payment data, then click Start Walmart+ to skip the trial.

Video-streaming

Prime Video is Amazon’s video-streaming service. Original programming began in 2013 and includes The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Amazon spent $250 million on Lord of the Rings prequel series, the first of which launches in September. Therefore, Amazon secured a 10-year contract with the NFL to stream 15 Thursday Night Football games last year.

Amazon provides Prime Video as a standalone service for $8.99 per month, but it’s also included with Amazon Prime, monthly or yearly.

Walmart bought Vudu in 2010 to offer video services. Streaming was in its infancy at the time, so it concentrated on letting consumers buy or rent movies via broadband-connected TVs and Blu-ray players or access their physical media in digital form via Ultraviolet. Walmart threw thrown the towel and sold Vudu to Fandango in 2020 after speculations of a video-streaming service in 2018.

Walmart+ subscribers will have free access to Paramount+ in September. The $4.99 Paramount+ Essential Plan offers over 30,000 on-demand movies and TV episodes, original content, NFL on CBS, and Champions League live.

Pharmacy prescriptions

Amazon and Walmart provide medication discounts. Walmart+ Rx and Amazon Prime Rx are discount programmes for persons without insurance or who will save more by using the discount programmes than their own insurance coverage.
Amazon Prime members enjoy two-day drug shipment. Select medicines start at $1 per month when paying without insurance at over 60,000 pharmacies, Amazon said. (Prescriptions may be filled at Amazon Pharmacy with or without Prime.)

Amazon says you may use Prime Rx if your insurance co-pay is greater than your Prime member pricing, your prescription isn’t covered by insurance, or your deductible is higher.

Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Minnesota don’t get Amazon Prime prescription discounts.

Walmart+ members get prescription savings. Over 4,000 Walmart pharmacies guarantee up to 85% discounts and free prescriptions. It’s not insurance and can’t be coupled with it. After your Walmart+ free trial, you’ll receive a digital pharmacy savings card.

Walmart+ vs. Amazon Prime

Many factors must be considered. Walmart+ is $41 less per year than Amazon Prime. Walmart+ is worth it if you already shop at Walmart and have locations nearby for free shipping and one-hour grocery delivery.
If you don’t live near a Walmart and want grocery delivery, Amazon may be a better option. Depending on your area, Amazon provides “free” shipping choices. Amazon Video is a fantastic reward for streaming fans.
