Google updated the YouTube app for Samsung Smart TVs with a better appearance; it’ll presumably reach Samsung soon.

Google updated the Google TV YouTube app’s UI. The app’s sidebar now features a new section called Extra with three classes: Films & TV Reveals, Live, and Sports.

Previously, Movies & TV Reveals and Live were sidebar categories. With the current update, both parts are under Extra. Sports is a new category, and YouTube’s recent statement may show MLB games in certain places. The YouTube app for Samsung Smart TVs currently contains nine categories, down from 10.

Google has updated the YouTube app sidebar before, including YouTube Music and icon changes. The latest update makes the YouTube app seem cleaner and frees up sidebar space for future extensions.

The updated YouTube app is currently rolling out to Google TV and will soon reach other excellent TV platforms, including Samsung’s Tizen OS.
