Sky Stream provides Sky TV without a satellite dish. The new streaming box is an alternative to Sky Glass TV for individuals who wish to keep their TV.
Sky TV continues to increase its delivery options. Sky Stream gives you the Sky Glass interface without a TV. Like an Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV, you attach the new box to an HDMI input.
The Stream box, like Sky Glass, gets shows over Wi-Fi and doesn’t require a satellite dish like Sky Q. Sky Q has the advantage of letting you record material to a hard drive.
This is the Sky Glass Puck, an add-on device that lets users watch TV in another room. Sky Stream is separate.
Sky Glass and Sky Stream both offer Sky TV, but their technology is different. One is a set-top box that plugs into a TV and optional sound system.
Sky Stream is compact and discreet. It’s small enough to fit in a cabinet or on a stand. It’s HDMI-compatible.
Sky Glass is a multi-media system. It has a 4K HDR TV and Dolby Atmos surround sound with built-in speakers.
All TV channels and content are delivered via the internet, not a satellite or antenna, so you need a good broadband connection (10Mbps for HD, 30Mbps for 4K). Ethernet or Wi-Fi can link both to your router.
Each remote has a built-in microphone and voice control button. Sky Glass features built-in voice control, while Sky Stream doesn’t.
In addition Sky Glass comes in 43-, 55-, and 65-inch and many colours. Sky Stream is one black box.
Sky Enabled Smart TV
Say “Hello Sky” or go by to activate the streaming TV. A new home page simplifies finding, watching, and playing TV. Sky, BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, ITV Hub, All4, Spotify, Peloton, PlayWorks, and more are included. Use your voice to search quickly, turn on the TV, adjust the volume, and switch devices.
Moreover Create a personal Playlist of your favourite shows, movies, and more across apps and channels, live and on demand. The new addition button on the remote adds to your Playlist for easy streaming.
Live Restart lets you get back into any show that’s currently airing and available to view from the beginning.
Both Sky Stream and Sky Glass can display 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, albeit in distinct ways.
Sky Glass displays HDR (Dolby Vision) graphics on its own screen and plays Dolby Atmos audio. Extra-high channels beam from the TV’s top.
Sky Stream can produce 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos but requires a compatible TV and sound system. You don’t need a 4K TV because the box will default to your setup’s resolution and audio, but you’ll receive more if you do.
Sky’s UHD & Dolby Atmos bundle is required for the greatest video and audio quality.
Sky Stream and Sky Glass are priced differently. One has a TV and sound system.
Sky Stream is priced for 18-month or 31-day rolling contracts. It’s $27.79 per month for 18 months plus a $21.38 setup charge.
The setup price for a 31-day rolling contract is $42.70. This option lets you cancel anytime.
Both include Sky Stream, Sky Ultimate, and Netflix Basic.
Whole Home adds $12.83 per month for multiroom. Sky Stream add-ons are charged accordingly.
However Sky Glass price is complex.
The cost of the TV varies by contract length and screen size.
Small (43-inch) costs $13.89, medium (55-inch) $18.17, and big (65-inch) $22.44 a month over 48 months. Pay $10.69 ahead.
