Drones Skydio added SOC 2 Type II accreditation to their data security compliance.
A SOC 2 Type II report records how firms handle and manage consumer data based on AICPA guidelines (AICPA).
Geels Norton performed Skydio’s SOC 2 Type II audit. Geels Norton reviewed Skydio’s drone access controls and reviews, software development, network and platform monitoring, vendor risk management, and security and compliance monitoring.
Skydio’s SOC 2 Type II compliance is significant since data security is a growing focus for government and enterprise drone initiatives. A SOC 2 accreditation would reassure Skydio’s infrastructure, tools, and policies to protect consumer data.
Certified data security implies less administrative work for management and IT workers when launching a drone programme.
Who Needs SOC2 Type II?
SOC means service organisation controls. The controls measure how well a service organisation manages and handles its information. The acronym stands for “system and organisation controls.”
SOC standards provide organisations confidence in third-party vendors. A CPA audited a SOC-certified organisation.
The Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2) Type II exam confirms that an independent auditing and accounting firm has evaluated and tested an organization’s control actions and objectives.
Communications, Policies, Monitoring, and Procedures form its foundation.
SOC 2 Type II audits assist enterprises gain assurance that their service providers comply with privacy and security standards and function efficiently and effectively.
With SOC 2 Type II, consumers can analyse service providers’ processing operations that affect the security, confidentiality, processing integrity, and availability of their data.
SOC 2 Type II helps service providers determine the sufficiency of their controls and demonstrate compliance with privacy and security standards.
“Qualified security assessors” (QSAs) execute SOC 2 Type exams, and AICPA maintains the standards.
Skydio Drones Introduction
Skydio builds drones for autonomous flight by any operator. The Skydio R1 was designed to avoid collisions using sensors. It was one of the best obstacle-avoiding drones at the time. The Skydio 2 was released in late 2019 with a new design and enhancements.
Skydio 2 has unmatched autonomous flight. The Skydio 2’s 4K 60 fps video is comparable to high-end drones. AI-assisted autonomous functioning is this drone’s biggest selling point. Every other drone spec is average.
Skydio says, “Focus on riding a mountain bike, shredding snow, or lining up the ideal sunset image” Skydio 2 is marketed as the intelligent drone “that will get you into drones.”
