Trump’s Truth Social App Isn’t On Google Play

Google Play Store bans Trump’s Truth Social app for lack of content filtering.

Trump’s Truth Social app CEO Devin Nunes suggested Google was to blame in a TV appearance. “When will we be Android-ready? Google Play Store is responsible. Nunes told Real America’s Voice, “We’re waiting for approval.” “”What’s taking so long?”

Google has informed Truth Social why the app isn’t in the Play Store.

“On August 19, we notified Trump’s Truth Social app of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission,” the business said in a statement. Truth Social acknowledged our feedback last week and said they’re working on it.

Axios broke the story.

Nunes also distorted Google’s continuing engagement with Trump’s Truth Social app regarding app store criteria, the firm said. Google says the Play Store bans violent and threatening content.
Trump’s Truth Social app has content-moderation methods to remove illegal content. Some posts can still inspire violence. The US House Committee on Oversight and Reform sent Truth Social a letter this month expressing worry over an increase of internet threats after the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

“Fuck the Feds!’ wrote one Truth Social user. The Second Amendment doesn’t cover deer hunting. Guns blazing! Arm yourselves!’ wrote another. We’re entering Civil War!'”

Truth Social’s parent company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), responded to Google: “TMTG has worked with Google to ensure that the Truth Social Android App complies with Google’s regulations without compromising free speech. Google should quickly approve Truth Social.”
Trump’s company hinted that violence threats can spread on other social media channels, such as Twitter. TMTG referenced a still-available tweet from US Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) regarding the US going to war with gun-owners.
“Some of our competitors’ apps are allowed in the Google Play Store despite violating Google’s sexual content policy,” TMTG said. “Truth Social has zero tolerance for sexually explicit content.”
Google hasn’t blocked Truth Social from the Play Store. Trump’s social networking platform is available for pre-order, the company said.

Truth Social is on Apple’s App Store and online.
